HOMEMADE PARTY PUNCH – Marie

1  2 litre bottle club soda
1/2  2 litre bottle ginger ale
1 can freeze concentrate lemonade
1 can frozen concentrate orange juice
1/4 – 1/3 cup of inexpensive table syrup that you use for pancakes
frozen strawberries


 

STRAWBERRY SURPRISE

1 cup strawberries (fresh or previously frozen)
1/2 cup of silken tofu
2 tbsp honey or sugar
5 ice cubes

Place all in a blender and blend until smooth. It’s a great drink for the summer since it’s ice cold and high in nutrients.


 

ORANGE MILKSHAKE

l cup milk
4 tbsp orange juice concentrate
(honey, peaches, strawberries, pineapple, ice cream)

Place milk and orange juice in a blender. Whip until smooth and foamy. If you want, sweeten with honey. Can add ½ cup chopped fresh fruit and whip if desired. For a great shake, add l scoop vanilla ice cream to above. Blend till smooth and foamy. Makes 1 ½ cups.


 

FIRESIDE COFFEE

1 cup instant coffee
2 cups coffee mate (or dry creamer)
2 cups cocoa
1 cup sugar (or less)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg

Mix well. Add about 3 heaping teaspoons to one cup of boiling water. Mix and enjoy.


 

HOT APPLE CIDER

l can apple juice
l stick of cinnamon
a small slice of orange or lemon rind
4 cloves
2 tbsp sugar or brown sugar

Put all above in a pot. Bring to a boil, simmer for however long you want and serve. Nice drink for when the kids come in from the cold.


 

CARAMEL MILK – Eleanor W., Ottawa

l cup hot milk
2 tbsp brown sugar
dash of vanilla extract

Microwave or heat up milk. Add sugar and vanilla. Stir and serve.


 

ORANGE JULIUS– Dorothy, Ottawa

l froze orange juice
2 cups water
2 cups milk
2 tbsp sugar
2 tsp vanilla

Mix all in a blender till frothy. Serve immediately.


 

BANANA MILKSHAKE

ripe bananas
milk
lemon juice
yogurt
sugar

In a blender slice up some ripe banana. Pour milk over till bananas just covered. Add a couple scoops of yogurt, a bit of lemon juice (l tsp) and some sugar (2 tbsp). Blend and drink asap.


 

HOMEMADE HOT CHOCOLATE

Mix and sift three times:
½ cup cocoa
1 cup sugar
3 cups dry milk powder
dash of salt
(Can add if you want l cup dry creamer)
Store in airtight container on your kitchen shelf.
Add 2 to 3 tbsp to hot water. I add a bit of milk to cool it down.


 

HOT SPICED APPLE JUICE – Suzanne K., Kingston

1 48 oz can of apple juice
l/4 cup apple cider vinegar
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ tsp ground cloves
½ tsp cinnamon
2 cinnamon sticks.

Heat. Do not boil. Just simmer and serve. Great in the winter time.


 

HOMEMADE BAILEYS IRISH CREAM – Eleanor, Ottawa

300 ml can of sweetened condensed milk
1 can evaporate milk
1 cup rye whiskey or rum
1 tsp instant coffee
1 1/2 tsp dry cocoa
1 to 2 tsp very hot water

Dissolve coffee and cocoa in water. Combine all ingredients and blend very well. Store in airtight container in the fridge. It can be refrigerated for up to 1 week.
