Steaks


ROUND STEAK IN SAUCE- Ursula, Toronto

round roast
thickly chopped onion, carrots and celery

Make small slits along fatty edges. Salt and pepper the steak. In pan, melt some butter. Brown steak on both sides. Pour over ½ cup water mixed with 1/3 cup of ketchup. Add a bit of flour for thickening. Place thick slices of onion, carrots and celery on top. Cover. Simmer for 1 ½ hours. Great with mashed potatoes.


STEAK IN FOIL - Helen, Charlo

l pkg of onion soup mix
sliced carrots, onions and potatoes

Place large piece of foil in a baking pan. Place steak on top. Cover with dry soup mix, onions, carrots and potatoes. Wrap up. Seal. Bake 350F for l hour.


GREEN PEPPER STEAK- Helen, Charlo

round steak, thinly sliced
l tbsp honey
6 tbsp soya sauce
l tbsp oil
l large onion sliced
l tsp cornstarch
½ tsp ginger
½ cup of water
2 green peppers sliced into thin strips

Marinate meat in ginger, honey and 2 tbsp soya sauce.
Heat oil and stir fry vegetables.
Heat oil. Brown meat. Add vegetables. Pour over cornstarch and 4 tbsp soya sauce.
Cook over low heat for 5 minutes. Serve with rice.


SIRLOIN STEAK BEAN STEW

thinly sliced sirloin steak
1 ½ tsp garlic, some pepper
l chopped onion, chopped celery and chopped mushrooms
chopped carrots
l can stewed tomatoes
l can baked brown beans
½ cup ketchup
potatoes peeled and halved

Brown steak in some oil. Add spices. Add rest. Cook 20 minutes.
